JEALOUSY

Our God is a jealous God. Why then shouldn't humans also be jealous? Why are we not allowed to be jealous?

God has the right to be jealous when we turn to the devil or to sin, because Ps. 100:3d says that "it is He that made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture". Hence we are his property; his creation. We need to do what He tells and wants us to do, and not what we want to do; like staying away from Him.

We should not be jealous of others because what they have was given to them rightfully by God; or He allowed them to attain it, whether by fair or foul means. God knows exactly how to deal with everyone. Being jealous of others is equivalent to grieving over what God has allowed others to have. It should not be so. We were created in God's image, hence the feeling of jealousy can come about, but we can control it by His grace.

Cain got jealous of his brother Abel and killed him. That should not be our behaviour. We should ask for God's grace to control jealousy, and He will supply.
