When it comes to buying property you must make sure you do your research and make the right decision that will bring you the best return on your investment. However do you buy a new home or an old one? I will discuss in this article the pros and cons of both types of property.

New Homes

Buying a new home can be good as you will be starting with a blank canvas and can be easy to make it your own. The disadvantage of this is that your new home will just be the basics and have no decoration. Although most building firms will include this in price so you can get it decorated exactly the way you want it. The other problem with buying a new home is you rarely get a large space as most new builds are made smaller these days so the builders can capitalise on the space and cram more houses into smaller spaces. New houses can sometimes be void of character and charm as some older homes have gained character over the years. You will also need to carpet your new home although most people choose to re-carpet an older house as well.

Old Homes

The advantage with an older property is that you can change the carpets over time but with a new home you will have to fork out for new carpets throughout the new house from the start. Gardens may also be a problem as with a new home you will not have a mature garden and it will come with minimal landscaping. One good advantage of a new home is the guarantees you will receive. You can be at peace that their will not be any structural repairs needed. If something does go wrong the builder with fix this free of charge. This is just not possible with an older house.

If this all seems like to much hassle you can always rent. If your looking for houses to rent in Salford then try here or even property to rent in Birmingham they have a wide range of both.

At the end of the day the descsion really lies with your own personal tastes you can go for a new house with all its guarantees. Or opt for older ones which will have character and a mature garden and the option to decorate as you go and when you have the budget to do so. They say it takes 8 seconds to decide if you like a home or not just remember to way up all the pros and cons before you make a decision.
