Rugby 6 Nations Championship 2009 - The Fixtures

This year, the Six Nations Rugby Championship will start from Saturday 7 February 2009 and will go on till Saturday 21 March 2009.

The event is considered as one of the biggest sports events in Europe where the 6 teams from RBS Rugby Union compete to bring some of the most pulsating and competitive matches imaginable to the rugby fans. The 6 nations competing in the championship include England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, France and Italy. Last years six nations rugby results saw Wales as the winner of the Grand Slam 2008 event, being the current championship of 6 Nations rugby results 08.

This years matches will bring more excitement and thrill, as millions of rugby fans look forward to see who wins the title this year. The matches will start in the first week of February and two matches will take place on the first day of the start of the championship. These matches will be held between England vs. Italy and Ireland vs. France. The match between England and Italy will start at 3:00 pm at Twickenham whereas the match between Ireland and France will start at 5:00 pm and will be held at Croke Park. Scotland and Wales will play against each other on the second day of the championship on Sunday 8 February 2009 at 3:00 pm at Murrayfield.


The next two matches will be held on Saturday 14 February with France vs. Scotland starting at 3:00 pm at Stade de France and Wales vs. England the Millenium Stadium. This will be one exciting match, when England will play against the current champions of the 6 nations championship winner. Italy and Ireland will play on Sunday 15 February 2009, with the game starting at 2:30 pm at Stadio Flaminio.

The next match of the championship will take place on Saturday 28 February 2009, between France and Wales. The match will start at 8:00 pm at the Stade de France. Two matches are scheduled for Saturday 28 February 2009 with Scotland vs. Italy and Ireland vs. England. Scotland and Italy will play at Murrayfield at 3:00 pm, whereas the second match for that day will be held at Croke Park at 5:30 pm.

Italy vs. Wales and Scotland vs. Ireland will play on Saturday 14 March 2009 at 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm at Stadio Flaminio and Murrayfield respectively. England will play against France on Sunday 15 March 2009, at 3:00 pm at Twickenham. The last matches of this championship will be held in week 5 of the championship series between Italy vs. France, England vs. Scotland and Wales vs. Ireland at 1:15 pm, 3:30pm and 5:30 pm respectively on Saturday 21 March 2009. These matches will be held at Stadio Flaminio, Twickenham and Millenium Stadium to decide the winning team for this years title.


2009 Six Nations Championship will be the tenth series of the Six Nations Championship and will be sponsored by the Royal Bank of Scotland. This is why this championship is also referred as RBS 6 Nations.
