Increase in Unsecured Loans

A leading financial services provider has found that the total number of unsecured loans taken out by people in the UK has increased in the past few months.

The company has revealed that unsecured loans are amongst one of the many types of debt that has accounted for the huge amount of money owed by people in the UK. The others were such things as credit card and car finance debt. The amount of debt is equivalent to each person in the UK owing £5,886.

The most worrying thing about these figures is that the money owed has increased by 30 per cent. This means that in 2007, the amount of personal debt that needed to be paid was on average £4,524.

The financial services provider has said that they are not surprised by the increased number of people needing to borrow more money because many people are under a lot more pressure to find more and more money for food and fuel as the cost of these items has greatly increased.

However, the company also said that people who have taken out unsecured loans should watch out for the interest rates on these loans as they may find that they soon start to eat into their savings.

For people who have taken out secured loans, watching that you have enough money each month for the repayments is essential because there have been many people who have had their homes repossessed due to them not being able to make the repayments each month.
