When the bow and arrow became a weapon of killing, the world of simple mechanics was changed forever. This all happened in Central Asia around 1500 B.C. This was when the simple one went to a machine known as the compound bow. A compound bow is when a simple one is made with bone, sinew, and wood that increases it strength and elasticity. The bow became a way to wage a more effective warfare against enemies that were far from the archer.
After the compound one came the crossbow and the longbow. These were used in China, Rome, and as far away as in England. Many people were killed using these weapons, but they also provided a way for huge civilizations such as the Roman Empire to become mass conquerors and stay that way for long periods of time. Once that gunpowder was created, however, the use of the bow and arrows became limited. In today's society, they are now viewed as being an essential part for a hunter that has the hobby of deer hunting. They can also be found in various forms of archery that even Olympics have now seen as being a very competitive sport.
The bow and arrow that is used in today's high tech world is one that was used by the primitive ancestor that started in the so called cradle of life. The world has come a long way since the beginning of the bow and the sports that accompanies it. The history that accompanies these devices is one filled with blood and gore, but it also is used for sporting purposes. One only has to read their history books in order to understand all about the bow and its famous arrows.
