Turkey is the number one holiday destination this summer, largely due to the rising cost of the euro and as it's not in the EEU. Other destinations that are popular are USA, the Far East and the not too far away Morroco. The reason these are good for travelling is that the exchange rate on the local currency is excellent.

Think about the destination before you go try to consider the exchange rate. If one is not good now it is unlikely to improve massively before your holidays. Places to go include turkey, USA, morocco and the far east which all have a better exchange rate and in turn more for your money.

Make sure you check the terms and conditions and read your terms and conditions for extras. Many of the budget airlines now charge for meals on the flight. Instead of opting for an inflight meal, save yourself some money and pack a small packed meal, with things you like for a fraction of the price.

Ask if your transfers included or are they extra if you are arranging a self packaged holiday? If you are renting a villa privately make sure you check about air conditioning, sheets and linen, pool heating, ski lift passes. Find out all your extras before you go by asking this will save on packing the 'just in case' items or if you think you can take something from home instead of paying for it.

If you can travel outside the school holidays even by a few days you can often save money on renting villas but also flight costs which will rise in summer holidays where demand is more.

If you live in the UK the government has tried to make it better for children by having school holidays start slightly earlier or finish slightly later so would it offset the cost to fly from a non local airport. The costs between Scotland and England can vary massively as their school holidays are quite different to each others.
