Yes you believed it didn't you ?
Got your attention with the most old fashioned and yet so commonly used way to attracting your attention towards an advertisement.
But what does attracts us ? most of us know that we don't get something for nothing or very little, we know 1p isn't even worth picking up off the pavement so investing a penny in something like this is no big deal if its not genuine, and then we read NO CATCH, NOTHING ELSE TO PAY ??? But we know there has to be a catch or there is something else to pay so why do we click on the link and read the ad ?
Because we are curious, we are curious that this might well be a real genuine offer that your friends will tell you about, or you will hear of another business or competitor who took the offer and gained from it, and you missed out on it and the offer is no longer available. We are all looking for the next big thing or the next real deal.
I must admit they are there, they do exist and that's why we keep looking, just in case we can get a website for only 1p one day.
But in reality what is a business website designed and hosted actually worth ?
Because most of us don't have a clue how much, we rely upon our instinct and budget to decide, we know what a pint costs, we know how much a lottery ticket is or a loaf of bread, but a website ????
Well its easy to work out the price for a loaf of bread or a lottery ticket because that's all you get and everybody buys them, a website is different there are so many different factors involved in designing a website so there is no fixed price.
I have seen prices for a 4 page website ranging from £99 to £599.
So what's the difference in the websites ????
None !!!
So why the big difference in price ?
Its because the more expensive company are larger and more established and employ lots of people and basically can get away with it.
The cheaper option is a small company or one man band and cant get away with it so the smaller company will give you better service and more features on your site because he has a lot to prove out there.
So how much should a 4 page website cost?
It isn't really about what it costs its about what you get for your money.
Just because some smaller company advertises a website for only £99 doesn't mean its going to be bad quality or inferior it means they can produce the same high quality for a lot less because they don't have the overheads or the brass ones to charge more.
Before committing to a web design company the best way to decide is to compare company portfolios and ring round for a few quotes, and remember its not the quantity of websites a company has done its the quality of a website.
