What does a loaf of bread cost? What does a washing machine cost? What does an advert in a local newspaper cost? These items and most everyday items we either know the price of, or can easily find out, but when it comes to having a website designed for our business this theory changes.
We are a website design company, www.agtc.co.uk and are astounded by what some of our customers have been quoted previously, and the length of time they have been told their website will take to develop. Some customers have been told their website could take months for quite a basic design. Thank goodness they did not request anything complicated!! But customers will pay out extortionate amounts and wait long periods of time for their website simply because unlike anything else that they have purchased they have no idea of what a website costs.
Some larger website design companies will charge thousands of pounds for a website that a smaller company may only charge a thousand pounds for. And customers will pay. Customers who are thinking of having a website designed for themselves, their business or charity should always shop around. Prices will vary from company to company. Many of the smaller website design companies will not charge as much as the larger ones. This might put some people off, thinking that expensive is better. Not always the case. The smaller companies have a more personal touch, giving you the chance to develop a rapport with your designer. Getting "in tune" with your website designer makes it easier for them to know what you want.
If you are thinking about having a website designed, make it your business to know what a website costs, just like you know what a pint of milk costs.
