Edinburgh is much more than just the capital of Scotland. Visit Edinburgh and you will see a city in which past and present equally exist. The city is dominated of the castle which is constructed on the top (134 m high) of an extinguished vulcano. From nearly every point in the Old Town you can see this fascinating builing which dates back from the 11 centuary and houses the crown jewels of Scotland as well as the National War Museum, the 1 o clock gun and the famous cannon Mons Meg.

Famous for its trendy shops and the good combination of old and new – are the shops on Princes Street and Royal Mile. It does not have too expensive – there are also very nice and trendy secound hand shops in Grassmarket.
Edinburgh offers something for everybody – for the art interested the famous museums like National Gallery with wonderful art exhibitions, the residence of the Queen – Hollyrood Palace as well the modern art gallery Deans Gallery.

For the Party Kings and Queens – Visit Edinburgh and its trendy pubs and clubs. But be aware if you have the luck to look younger than 23 you might have to show your passport or ID before going to a club a buying alcohol. Teenagers under 18 years are not allowed enter pubs or clubs. Some insider tips I can recommend local pubs at Rose Street, South Bridge and in the famous city part “Cowgate” with is of no route for cattle today.

Visit Edinburghand use the public transport as often as possible. In the city center on Princes Street privat cars are not allowed. In the city there are over 45 bus routes. Very often the bus drivers or the passengers themselves help tourits to find the right station. As an orientation “genius” I have to say that people in Edinburgh were very helpful to me when I did not find the right way which happened a lot. Plus the two floor buses give you the feeling of beeing in a highlight city like London.

Visit Edinburgh and spend amazing holidays there in a city that gives you a friendly, welcome feeling. Edinburgh has so many sights you can´t talk on all of them in such a short space, so take a travel guide and have the special Scotland expierence yourself!
