There is just one thing in all of this Political, digging up "DIRT" mudslinging mumbo jumbo I'd like clarified.
Why is it that if Sarah Palin is unfit to be VP (or President should McCain die in office)BECAUSE...
.....her daughter drinks and is an unwed pregnant teenager
.....and her 19 yr old son may or may not have done drugs at some point
-----(which by the way, Obama by his own admission smoked weed, snorted cocaine and drank in High School too *)
Why is it then, that out of the 281 million plus Americans, thousands and maybe even millions of whom have the SAME FAMILY ISSUES,both Democrat, Rupublican and Independent alike, why are they considered FIT TO ELECT A PRESIDENT to run this country???????????????????
Oh and another thing, now they are knocking her for saying that God had a plan for the US to help the Iraq's get out from under the tyrant that ran their country.
I mean WHAT THE HECK that poor family can't have God and they can't have "sin" what in tarnation can they have!!!!?????????????

"In her first class, she (Michelle Obama) had a Harvard graduate, she had a Northwestern [University] graduate," he said. "But she also had people who'd been incarcerated, she had women on welfare, people who'd been homeless, who'd been in gangs."
Pgs. 3-4 Nelly Nieblas, 29, who was a member of the 2005 Public Allies class in Los Angeles, says at first she disliked that approach and thought about leaving the program. "It was too touchy-feely," she says. "It's a lot of talk about race, a lot of talk about sexism, a lot of talk about homophobia, talk about -isms and phobias." (homophobia=fear or dislike of gays)

A Public Allies training seminar in Chicago, (of which Barack Obama is a founding member and Michelle Obama a former Executive director), describes heterosexism, quote as a negative byproduct of capital quoting of capitalism, white supremacy, patriarchy and male dominated privilege, end quote. Nelly Nieblas recalls changing her mind about Public Allies after participating in an exercise that was designed to show that some people face life with built-in advantages while others are less privileged.
Participants were asked to take one step backward for each disadvantage they had experienced if, for
example,their refrigerator had ever been empty while they were growing up.
"By the end of the whole exercise I was hitting the wall," she says. "I broke down crying." Ms. Nieblas says the exercise forced her to recognize that her identity was something deeper than her résumé - which included a college degree and a yearlong political fellowship in Washington. "It sucks to be poor, it sucks to be the first to do everything, it sucks to be discriminated against because you have a disability," she says.
***note by saraht43--- This is a young woman who had obviously had some hardships, yet she no doubt worked very hard to overcome any and all disadvantages she may have had to finish high school and get her college degree from HARVARD. She was the editor on the Harvard Journal of Hispanic Policy. She had obviously gained enough self-confidence that she planned to leave the Public Allies group, because she didn't like their policies of racism, sexism, etc. etc. that they promoted and had planned to persue her career on her own. BUT the Public Allies leaders, instead of encouraging her to be Proud of her successes, had her do the above exercise where they threw up every possible hardship she may have faced in her entire life, Thus destroying her new-found self-confidence and at that point forcing her to dwell on the past and wallow in self pity, and made her feel that it was necessary to remain with the organization.

It came to me while I was having dinner with Doris Day. No, not that Doris Day. The Doris Day who is married to Col. Bud Day, Medal of Honor recipient, fighter pilot, Vietnam POW and roommate of John McCain at the Hanoi Hilton.
As we ate near the Days' home in Florida recently, I heard things about Sen. McCain that were deeply moving and politically troubling. Moving because they told me things about him the American people
need to know.
And troubling because it is clear that Mr. McCain is one of the most private individuals to run for president in history.
When it comes to choosing a president, the American people want to know more about a candidate than policy positions. They want to know about character, the values ingrained in his heart. For
Mr. McCain, that means they will want to know more about him personally than he has been willing to reveal.
Mr. Day relayed to me one of the stories Americans should hear. It involves what happened to him after escaping from a North Vietnamese prison during the war. When he was recaptured, a Vietnamese captor broke his arm and said, "I told you I would make you a cripple."
The break was designed to shatter Mr. Day's will. He had survived in prison on the hope that one day he would return to the United States and be able to fly again.
To kill that hope, the Vietnamese left part of a bone sticking out of his arm, and put him in a misshapen cast. This was done so that the arm would heal at "a goofy angle," as Mr. Day explained. Had it done so, he never would have flown again.
But it didn't heal that way because of John McCain! Risking severe punishment, Messrs. McCain and Day collected pieces of bamboo in the prison courtyard to use as a splint. Mr. McCain put Mr. Day on the floor of their cell and, using his foot, jerked the broken bone into place. Then, using strips from the bandage of his own wounded leg and the bamboo, he put Mr. Day's splint in place.
Years later, Air Force surgeons examined Mr. Day and complimented the treatment he'd gotten from his captors. Mr. Day corrected them. It was Dr. McCain who deserved the credit. Mr. Day went on
to fly again.
Another story I heard over dinner with the Days involved Mr. McCain serving as one of the three chaplains for his fellow prisoners. At one point, after being shuttled among different prisons, Mr. Day had found himself as the most senior officer at the Hanoi Hilton. So he tapped Mr. McCain to help administer religious services to the other prisoners.
Today, Mr. Day, a very active 83, still vividly recalls Mr. McCain's sermons. "He remembered the Episcopal liturgy," Mr. Day says, "and sounded like a bona fide preacher."
One of Mr. McCain's first sermons took as its text Luke 20:25 and Matthew 22:21, "render unto Caesar what is Caesa r's and unto God what is God's." Mr. McCain said he and his fellow prisoners shouldn't ask God to free them, but to help them become the best people they could be while serving as POWs. It was Caesar who put them in prison and Caesar who would get them out. Their task was to act with honor.
Another McCain story, somewhat better known, is about the Vietnamese practice of torturing him by tying his head between his ankles with his arms behind him, and then leaving him for hours. The
torture so badly busted up his shoulders that to this day Mr. McCain can't raise his arms over his head. One night, a Vietnamese guard loosened his bonds, returning at the end of his watch to tighten
them again so no one would notice.
Shortly after, on Christmas Day, the same guard stood beside Mr. McCain in the prison yard and drew a cross in the sand before erasing it. Mr. McCain later said that when he returned to Vietnam for the first time after the war, the only person he really wanted to meet was that guard.
Mr. Day recalls with pride Mr. McCain stubbornly refusing to accept special treatment or curry favor to be released early, even when gravely ill. Mr. McCain knew the Vietnamese wanted the propaganda
victory of the son and grandson of Navy admirals accepting special treatment. "He wasn't corruptible then," Mr. Day says, "and he's not corruptible today."

But the one thing we have heard is that, while he and Obama have pledged to unite the country, Biden says if they are elected to office, they will persue any criminal violations committed by the Bush White House. The press, after cluck-clucking haughtily at the sensationalization of the news, has just committed its own act of rank sensationalism. Headlines are blaring that Palin said the "U.S would have to go to war if Russia invades another country." She was asked if the United States would have to go to war if Russia invaded a NATO ally.
She said yes, as she must, since the US has an Article V obligation to come to the defense of NATO allies when attacked. If she had said no then she would not have stated U.S. policy.
It's possible the journalists covering her interview do not know this. However it is also possible, perhaps, that this basic fact was ignored by the press eager to make a headline.
Could that be? I'm just shocked, shocked at the low level to which we have sunk in this campaign!"

WILL MCCAIN/OBAMA REALLY NOT BE ON THE TEXAS BALLOT????
Not if Bob Barr of the Libertarian Party has his way!!!
According to Bob Barr and the Libertarian Political party Senator Barack Obama and Senator John McCain should not be allowed to be on the Texas Presidential ballot. There is a law in Texas that states that all candidates must be certified by 5pm 70 days before the election. This year that date fell on Aug 26. Because neither candidate had officially been nominated by their party on that date, it was impossible for them to file under Texas law, says the Barr campaign. To read the full story
