Most men get what is called the “apple effect”. When they gain weight most of the fat is deposited around the mid section giving them an apple shape. When a man loses 10 pounds the effects are noticeable.
When a women gains weight the fat is more equally distributed between the mid-section, buttocks and thighs giving her a pear shape. When a women loses the same 10 pounds there is not as drastic a change in appearance as with a man.
The solution for both is the same but the man is more likely to see a change in appearance much sooner than a the women who loses an equal amount of weight. Here are some tips to help you lose belly fat.
1. Get a calorie counter – Count your calories for one week to determine what your average daily calorie intake is.
2. Plan your meals and snacks to reduce your calorie intake 500 to 1000 calories a day.
3. Start some form of aerobic exercise for at least 30 minutes per day. Walking is a good one but there are many other activities you can do.
Sit ups and crunches do not help you lose belly fat and do not burn as many calories as an aerobic exercise. They will help you tone and strengthen your abdominal muscles which will make you feel better and when you have lost enough weight look better.
