How to Work From Home

Not everyone can work from home. Some need the interaction to be creative while others find they are not disciplined enough to get the job done when home alone. Their time is so often gobbled up by other tasks around the home that seem just as pressing. Of course it is important to get the washing hung and the dinner on, but when household chores keep you occupied all day then you are not going to be successful at running your business. The thing to do is make a plan and stick to it. The plan will start with your business start and finish times. Certainly you can allow for breaks in between, but don't do any of that housework or chat on the phone to friends while you are ‘at work'.

Dressing for work will get you in the mood, while staying in your PJ's will make you want to loll on the sofa. A cluttered workspace will limit your efficiency and creativity too. Make sure your workstation is ergonomic. It should be comfortable enough to make you want to stay there. Grouping your tasks will help you get them done. Choose your prime time - when you feel at your best - to do the difficult jobs. Do take time out - but don't fritter it away.
