"It's no exaggeration to say that a potentially marriage-ending crisis can feel like the whole world is about to end." Saving a marriage is not something one partner can do alone. Saving a marriage is the desire of many couples who have found themselves in a relationship that has deteriorated. Although there are problems, the relationship may only need some guidance to get back on track.
Saving a marriage can be simple for those couples that still have love in their hearts. As said, romance should always be alive in a marital relationship because if there is love, marriage becomes stronger and longer for the couples.
Saving a marriage is well worth it because humans are designed to share intimacy, both physically and emotionally at a deep level. It's hard to do that even without the added complication of an affair, but once achieved, the peace found is incomparable. Saving a marriage is doing your part to save our society.

The answer is never easy when it comes to complex problems, does your spouse do their part around the house? Do you and your spouse talk things out or is there a communication a problem? Is it the sex or lack of?
Robert Irwin said in his book "Sexual Skills For The Christian"

Sex in marriage is a beautiful thing and keeping it there will help you avoid sexual and emotional hurt and problems. God wants us to have a wonderful, healthy sex life, but He wants us to make a covenant with our spouse and Him first.
Marriage isn't even a right. Marriage is commonly celebrated in the context of a Eucharistic service (a nuptial Mass). The sacrament of marriage is indicative of the relationship between Christ and the Church (Ephesians 5:29-32 ), yet most Reformed Christians would deny the elevation of marriage to the status of a sacrament, nevertheless it is considered a covenant between spouses before God.
Marriage is a gift from God and from it comes children. Once married, it is definitely a lifetime commitment (no exceptions). Marriage is not just a contract. It is a primal social bond with positive externalities both for those who enter into the agreement and for the society in which the agreement is made. Marriage is our first and best line of defense against financial, medical and emotional meltdown. It provides domesticity and a safe harbor for sex.

If this is the case I feel trust is better than doubt, forgiveness is better than condemnation. Trust can be restored with time. 80% of those who divorce during an affair regret the decision. Over 75% who marry partners in an affair eventually divorce. If an affair replaces the marriage, it is subject to the same emotional stresses as the marriage but twice as likely to fail.
