As of September 07th, 2008, Warhammer Online Age of Reckoning first got released to the public in the form of on open beta available to 50,000 lucky users that signed up early enough to get access key.

More and more reviews are coming out about the gameplay, the graphics, the PvP, the PvE, and a number of other features of the game, and all of those reviews speak incredibly highly about not only the game itself, but the future of the game as well.

The game has its bugs, of course. When World of Warcraft came out it barely seemed like a finished project at all.

But Warhammer Online Age of Reckoning is already more polished than the MMORPGs that came before it, and has the benefit of being highly funded as well as learning from the mistakes that its predecessors made.

Bumpy Start

That said, some of the bugs have given the game a bumpy start. The Beta testers in Europe were not even able to log in during the open beta period because of a problem with the authentication code that occurred when that many people wanted to play the game at the same time.

Still, Warhammer Online Age of Reckoning has gotten few complaints and virtually no signs of disappointment in its potential. Everyone can see that the game is destined to be huge - something that will bring in both gamers and non-gamers and is likely to rival the best MMORPGs in terms of overall market share.

And that's what makes it exciting - the ability to see a game through its birth pangs as it becomes one of the best new games on the market and on the planet. Every month is going to bring updates and additions that are going to turn the game into its (hopefully perfect) final state, and it will be interesting to see whether the game becomes all that it can potentially become.

Warhammer Online's newest guide writer, Stephen Fredricks will be producing his first product this coming week in the form of The Warhammer Guide.
