Balmoral is named after Balmoral Castle, the large estate house in Aberdeenshire, Scotland known as Royal Deeside and a favourite summer royal residence. An urban locality in the suburb of Mosman in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Balmoral is located in the local government area of the Municipality of Mosman and is part of the Lower North Shore.

Balmoral features Balmoral and Edwards Beaches, both of which are separated by the outcrop of Rocky Point. Both beaches are usually referred to as simply Balmoral and one of the most picturesque beaches in Sydney and has views to North Head, Manly, and Clontarf and is situated at the mouth of Middle Harbour.

The famous Balmoral Rotunda is the home of Shakespeare By The Sea a summer outdoor event held at Balmoral Beach. Other notable events include the annual Mudgee Wine Festival and the Rotunda and Rocky Point Island are also popular for wedding ceremonies and photographs.
A section of the beach is protected by shark net which makes it safe for swimming. However, it should be noted that the beach is not patrolled by lifesavers.

Balmoral Beach is a great place to visit because it is just a short walk from a number of restaurants, cafes, hotels and recreation areas. The beach is also near the Taronga Zoo, Mosman Wharf and other must-see places.
