What have the big names in mobile phones got in store for Christmas?

Ok, granted, it's only September, but the big names in mobile phones have already started to announce their plans for the Christmas season. LG, Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson... they all have some exciting mobile phones to come before the end of the year!

LG - going for the cool factor with the KC 910

There are going to be at least three 8 megapixel mobile phones out in time for Christmas, and although LG aren’t going to be the first to get one to the market, it's entirely possible they'll be selling the coolest one of the lot. Called the KC910, this is LG doing what they've now become known for: mobile phones with ludicrously good cameras built in, that look unbearably sexy and sometimes have a touchscreen (as in the LG Viewty, the mobile phone that started that reputation for them). Well, LG look as though they have another massive hit on their hands, with the KC910, and although the Viewty was never officially stated as going up against the iPhone, it seems a bit on the obvious side that this stonker of a mobile phone will be. Without doubt. Because it's stunning. And ludicrously powerful. And LG will have made it easy to use, because they do that with all their mobile phones. Expect the KC910 to be a huge success story!

Samsung - smarten up with the i8510 INNOV8

Ok, by the time the festi8ve season rolls around, this mobile phone from Samsung will have been on the market for a while, but... well... the i8510 INNOV8 has the chops to stay at the top of its game a lot longer! Like the LG KC910, the Samsung i8510 has a massively powerful 8 megapixel camera, but its other big selling point is the fact that, like Nokia's range of Nseries mobile phones, the i8510 is powered by Symbian Series 60. So, it's a proper smartphone, and it's absolutely packed to the gills with raw power. And like the Nokia big boys, you can add on bags and bags of software, loads of new functionality, and it's more powerful than Mexico. In other words, since it's the first mobile phone to have smartphone power, and a frighteningly powerful camera, it WILL sell.

Sony Ericsson - Cyber-Shot perfection?

Rounding out the list of 8 megapixel mobile phones is the contender from Sony Ericsson, the C905. not as smart as the Samsung, not as sexy as the LG, what sets this one apart? Cyber-Shot. It's the only mobile phone on this list to have the extra features associated with Sony Ericsson's Cyber-Shot brand, or, to put it another way, it has real Cyber-Shot bits from their digital cameras glued into it. Not bad looking, either, as it's smaller than the Samsung, although, if I'm honest, not as pretty as the LG. Still a good buy, though.

Nokia - dance to the music

In a shocking break from tradition, Nokia haven't jumped on the 8 megapixel bandwagon yet! While the other big names are pushing their monster megapixel mobile phones, Nokia are going for music. Specifically their new 'Comes With Music' package, where you buy a mobile phones and you get a whole year where you can download as many songs as you want from them, without paying ONE PENNY for the songs. And since Nokia have a catalogue of 2 million songs, from big names like Sony BMG, Warner Brothers and EMI, you're going to be able to download hundreds of the biggest and best songs in the world, whilst paying absolutely NOTHING to get them. That is going to be a big, big, big, big winner, this Christmas, no doubt about it. Nokia are really pushing this, and it's easy to see why, because it's a fabulous service on their mobile phones. Not only that, but at the end of the year, you keep the music, for nothing again, and it's DRM-free. Between this amazing service from Nokia and the LG KC910 (the one I predict will be THE big selling cameraphone this Christmas), things are looking rather exciting!
