I recently started working online as an internet marketer. My past history is as an environmental scientist and a happy one! I will briefly summarise my recent past so you will truly understand my annoyance and hopefully get to know me better.
In November 2005, I had a baby boy. Everything was great until he was nearly 2 years old. He started crying a lot, did not want to walk or exercise and had a grey complexion. Doctors could find nothing wrong and I felt terrible as I knew something serious was happening. Then the call came from my sons day-care centre to say a toddler in his group had taken very seriously ill and had TB. It had come from a carer. I had my answer and knew this is what my 2 year old had contracted. The funny thing was that I had given up work and had taken my son from the day-care when this call came!
My suspicions were confirmed and so began a series of horrific tests, hospital visits and medications which continue to this day. I found out I was pregnant at the time and was found to have been exposed to TB and had to go on antibiotics for the remainder of my pregnancy.
I am a better person as a result and have a greater appreciation of my family and feel I have been given a better insight into the true meaning of life now for which I am blessed.
Anyway what got me really annoyed was that I just purchased downloadable software which was endorsed by someone well known in internet networks so I fully trusted the person behind the sale. Now don’t get me wrong. I am sure that high profile person now regrets having anything to do with this guy. Who knows maybe the person behind the software turned lazy or greedy and did not care if people who handed over hard earned money (and very hard earned money) in my case and not be able to even get the link working. I have sent emails to the relevant contact addresses so who knows maybe I might get lucky!
You can imagine my double annoyance when I went searching through the net typing in this person’s name and the program I paid for and found various posts reporting fraud and scam. I came across a list of websites also run by this person and it turns out I had subscribed to a site owned by this person some months ago under a different name and had handed over money then also!
Only for the fact that good decent people had posted all this information on the net, I would have been left in the dark.
If you take anything from this article, my strong recommendation is that no matter how good something seems and there may even be “one-time offers” or incentives, minimise if you do not want to close your screen and do a search on the web. Type in the product, name of the marketer or company and do a quick search. Also add in + scam, + rip off etc after your search term and see what it comes up with.
I acted on impulse but in what I thought was a legitimate program and my wallet is lighter as a result. Yes I was hit where it hurt financially and also my pride is dented as I feel conned.
I am lucky in that I am now working with 2 legitimate profitable businesses which have honourable backing and can be traced back over time i.e. they have good history. I am given training and support and no question is too silly to ask!
