“FLY. You can do this. You are the
best at this.”
The baby eagle says
“I am afraid. It looks too hard.”
Mother eagle wonders aloud,
“Why is it that the thrill of soaring comes with the fear of falling?
As we investigate deeper into the meaning of transition we can begin to understand that we are always in transition and there is nothing to fear from being in the state of transition. If you don’t think you are ever in transition then you most likely are living a very dull and dreary life.
In fact all of our life is spent in a period of perpetual transition. We transition from being a small baby to being a child to being a teenager, then a young adult. As we mature – which is a form of transition we begin to view life in different phases. What was seemingly important to me in my 20’s is no longer relevant. Just as the baby eagle will learn to fly, so we transition from our parents home (our nest) out into the world. After 23 years in the corporate world I made a very large and partially nervous transition into the network marketing world. There was the thrill of soaring, venturing out on my own, along with the fear of falling, or not being successful. Yet after making the transition it now seems amazing that it didn’t occur sooner. As we continue on our journey what I thought of at 30 and was afraid of because it was hard now ten years later makes me wonder what was I afraid of. We can not FLY if we never leave the comfort zone and therefore never really soar with the Eagles.
Transition is like reading a book. You may like one chapter better than maybe another one, but as you read on ending each chapter a new one begins. We transition the story along chapter by chapter.
As I was studying the affirmation above and looking at the picture on the card (Dr Ellie Drakes Easier Done than Said Affirmations)of the Eagle soaring high in the air it made me think of things from the eagles point of view. A bird’s eye view you might say. As we transform into our roles in our lives we each go through our own type of makeover. While I feel that I am very comfortable when I put my foot in the stirrup to get on my horse, yet when I go into a performance it is always a little nervous. The more I compete the more I transition into a comfort zone. It is the same with our business as we transform from members or customers into leaders, coaches or mentors. We grow and transition into our roles. Know that everyone at some point has made this transition in some venture in their lives. Everyone has at some point been nervous or perhaps anxious or even afraid to speak in front of others. It is the transition process of growing and stretching ourselves that enables us to reach out beyond our internal boundaries.
As the Eagle soars over the field looking for prospects (rabbit) does he say no to one rabbit (judgment) and yes to another? No, he sees them all equally as (teammates) food. This is how we should view our potential business prospects.
