Buy Smart – An Article for Consumers

Submitted by Carl O. Cutrone, founder of USA Finance Group

This is a crazy time for families with respect to schedules and what's needed to get through our lives. Parents are often working multiple jobs and then have to get the kids to various after school programs. There are TV food programs devoted to showing how to provide good everyday meals by meal planning and cook-ahead practices. This practice, namely pre-planning and research can be effective in buying the other things we need in addition to food.

This article will discuss an approach to buying other items, whether sporting goods, school supplies, regular clothing, fancy items, electronics, or whatever else a family needs may be. Do families today really have the time to drive around even to the mall and try to get one stop shopping for everything they need? Is there a better way to shop? I think so and buying online is highly recommended to save time, money and gasoline.

There are a lot of sources out there to buy online and these can be found by using your favorite search engine and typing in the name of the item you are looking for. Once you get back the search results you can merely double-click the sites that seem to give you what you are looking for in that search. Within that site you may see a catalog or pictures that directly relate to what you need. Many sites have a "wish list" section that will allow you to list an item there while you comparison shop somewhere else. You may be asked to register with that site but that is a simple process and should not be a concern.

Once you put something in your "wish list" it remains there until you either buy it, or remove it or simply leave it there forever. You are under no obligation to complete the buying of that item. Now, go back to your original search results and check out the same item through another online shopping service that your search list will contain. Check out that suppliers specifics and if the item is at a better price, or some other better term or condition, you can then buy it from that supplier without any obligation to the first. If however, the first supplier, or any other you've investigated during this particular "shopping spree" is the best, then feel free to buy from that supplier. This may sound complicated but it really isn't and offers you some comparison shopping without hauling the kids into the SUV and burning gas to find what you want.

OK, you have found what you want from the best supplier; now how do you pay for it? Most suppliers offer several options, one is to print out the order then call them on an 800 line; another is to directly enter your credit card information. Most suppliers now use a sophisticated online credit card system that is easy to use and provides good security. Another option is that your supplier may offer a PayPal option. PayPal processes millions of online retail transactions daily. I use PayPal for my purchases whenever possible. If the supplier you chose offers PayPal they will also offer you a link at which you can sign up for a free PayPal registration.

I shop online extensively and by clicking here, you can see the two services I use most frequently. For additional information on consumer services, click here.
