The renowned junction of five busy roads in Westminster, at the heart of West End in London, "Piccadily Circus" was constructed in 1819 as an intersection to the main shopping destination of the region. The name "Piccadily" is the origin of the frilled collar made by the rich tailor Roger Baker who lived in the area and "Circus" was a derivation of the Latin word "circus" which means "circle" as it functioned as a round open space connecting several main streets in the area.

Piccadily Circus now links the main theatres in Shaftesbury Avenue and other boulevards of the Haymarket, Coventry and Glasshouse Street that are featured with a number of theatres, restaurants and massive cinema complexes. These compelling elements draw about 150,000 people walking around the busy area during weekends. The Shaftesbury Avenue is the most important division leading from the Piccadily Circus which was created in 1885. Firstly, the square was a key location for huge billboards and now it houses massive electronic displays carrying many advertisements all day long.

At the center of the Piccadily Circus is the Shaftesbury monument fountain that was erected in 1893 honoring Lord Shaftesbury, a charity donor in 19th Century who helped the poor in great deal. It is a statue of a nude Angel of Christian Charity called Eros that has been made of aluminum standing on the bronze fountain.

Piccadilly Circus tube station is to be found right underneath the Circus. It is the London underground station running between Leicester Square and the Green Park through the Piccadilly Line and also between Oxford Circus and Charing Cross through the Bakerloo Line. The entire station is completely underground and happens to be one of the few railway stations without any related building on the ground.

As the Piccadily Circus in one of the busiest places in London, tourist accommodation facilities are distinctly found including London serviced apartments and hotels. In particular Ascott Serviced Apartments stand as some of the chief hospitality providers in London offering the finest ingredients to have delightful stay.
