Former Alberta Premier Ralph Klein is inclined to lend him his successor to the keys to the province empty Washington, DC, condominium in exchange for a little hobnobbing.
Klein needs a place to live while conferences in the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in the U.S. capital for three months this fall, told CBC News Thursday.
The condominium was purchased by Alberta's representative in Washington, a position that has been vacant since Murray Smith, left the job earlier this year.
Klein said he could fill his job temporarily, not to pay, if the province was allowed to live in an apartment.
The position includes rubbing shoulders with politicians and business representatives in an attempt to raise the profile of Alberta.
Although some former colleagues Klein, as chairman of the Board of Treasury Lloyd Snelgrove, I think it's a great idea, Premier Ed Stelmach's office is not as intense.
A spokesman said that the province intends to publish a bureaucrat at work this fall and hopes to make a permanent appointment in the new year.
