But, relatively speaking, there’s been a recent development to the scene that’s sure to draw still greater numbers of tourists: golf. As a result of a great deal of investment, golf in Tunisia is really starting to take off and there are now a number of excellent golf courses that can be highlight of a trip to Tunisia in and of themselves.
Golf Courses in Hammamet
Like golf in Tunisia generally, Hammamet golf courses have come an awfully long way in quite a short time. All in all, there are no less than three excellent golf courses in Hammamet: the Yasmine, and the Citrus Golf Club’s two separate courses – the Forest Course and the Olive Course.
Of these, arguably the most enticing is the Citrus’ Forest Course. An extremely challenging course (that once hosted the European Challenge Tour) across its eighteen holes there are some unnervingly tight fairways and blind approaches to manoeuvre on the way to a good score.
Golf Courses in Monastir
When you add a couple of cracking Monastir golf courses to the existing sublime hotel and beach ensemble, it’s easy to see why so many holidaymakers are choosing the resort for their Tunisia trip.
The Flamingo is a great choice of course for a round of golf in Tunisia. Indeed, it’s undoubtedly one of the more scenic courses in the country. Getting its name from the flamingos that descend on the course from the nearby wetlands, and featuring a number of holes running along a row of cliffs, it’s as beautiful a round of golf as it is a taxing one.
Another choice of golf course in Monastir is the Palm Links. Long, and despite its flat appearance, surprisingly testing, the course also offers some highly recommended tuition options for all levels.
Golf Courses in Port el Kantaoui
A short half hour’s drive away from Monastir in Port el Kantaoui, there are yet more cracking Tunisia golf courses to choose from. Just a stroll away from the Marina and many Port el Kantouai hotels, the Sea Course is as attractive spot for a round of golf in Tunisia as any.
The aptly named Panorama Course, meanwhile, is famous for the great views from its raised tees and a genuinely tricky round of golf that’s drawn the European Seniors Tour to Tunisia on more than one occasion. Let’s face it, though, with such wonderful weather in Tunisia, they probably didn’t need much convincing!
