HTC has moved away a bit from the conventional QWERTY keypad that was based on the desktop's keyboard. Instead of placing only one letter per key HTC has designed its keypad to have two letters in one key that way the keys will not be too small which makes it very hard to press using your fingers.

The HTC Touch Diamond keypad design is much more of a big help especially to users who are not fond of using the stylus to type. Since the design the mobile phone's keypad developers have been creating their own keypads which are obviously based from HTCs QWERTY keypad. But still it includes the traditional keypad for those that still cannot get over it. So the keypad of this mobile phone can be displayed as 12-key, 20-key or full QWERTY keypad. Since it was introduced to the public developers was able to extract the on-screen keypad, packed it as a cab file for other smart phones. Meaning, other PDAs or smart phones can have the HTC keypad installed on their mobile phones.

Though, it is a bit tricky when it comes to the punctuation marks for the reason that it is located just below the letters located in one key. The user needs to click on the punctuation mark using a stylus because it is pretty small so using your finger is no good.

HTC also released the HTC Touch Pro which includes a slide-out keypad. Since, some users prefer a hardware keypad for easier and faster navigation and typing.
