Although lenders seem like they are hard to work with, they need for you to explain your situation accurately and coherently. If your lender feels you are serious and want to work through the hardship they will offer some tips that might help you out of your current problem effectively.
One way a lender might help you if you are in for trouble is to offer a 'loan modification". Another approach is a forebearance, which isn't the best way to avoid foreclosure but it is better than giving the deed back to your lender or let the foreclosure take place.
You can also contact your local HUD office for free counseling. They will discuss some options that we talk about in the links at the end of this article, and they will also go over short sales, or selling your house if you can't afford the payments.
