eaga, the Government’s provider of the Warm Front Scheme, is encouraging households to maximise their incomes by checking they’re claiming the benefits they’re entitled to.
To qualify for Warm Front, residents must own or privately rent their property and be in receipt of a qualifying benefit. But for many residents, not knowing what they’re entitled to could mean they’re losing out on the heating and insulation scheme which could give them £2,700 towards gas and £4,000 towards oil based systems.
Commenting on the Scheme, Hayley Peters, Director of Warm Front at eaga said: “Many people simply don’t release the benefits they’re entitled to and consequently could be missing out on claiming the Warm Front grant.
“We’re urging people who are not sure of their entitlements to contact us and go through a free and thorough benefit entitlement check and from there they could very well find they qualify for the Warm Front scheme.
“We’re encouraging people to contact us now as clearly the winter months are the busiest for us. If people contact us now we’re pretty certain that if they qualify we can have their heating measures in place well before the start of the winter.”
Benefits of the Warm Front Scheme could include a contribution towards the cost of repairing an existing heating system or installing a new one as well as providing insulation measures including loft and cavity wall insulation and draught proofing.
“Our message is simple”, said Ms Peters “At a time of rising fuel bills and when people in fuel poverty are already struggling to meet these costs, we’re here to help.”
