Poor customer service is the most serious issue facing the cable companies. Only 75 percent of digital-cable and 68 percent of analog-cable subscribers reported that they received good or excellent service when they phoned their provider with a question or problem. In fact, both types of cable dropped 10 percentage points on this gauge since 2003! A troubling trend that continues to plague the cable service suppliers. Where in comparison, the satellite subscribers, an astounding 81 percent rated service high, a level that is unaltered from the prior 2003 Consumer Reports survey. Clearly quality customer service rests with satellite tv and more specifically DIRECTV. American Satellite continues with the trend that DIRECTV has set by making superior customer service their top priority!
The final choice of cable or satellite is furthermore dictated by where you live. DirecTV is available nationwide to all households with an unobstructed view of the southern horizon. The Installation Department at American Satellite has licensed installers that cover the entire country; ready to install your equipment on your schedule. cable, on the other hand, is not as readily obtainable. cable is only available in certain parts of the country. About 30 percent of the satellite subscribers Consumer Reports surveyed, mostly living in rural areas, said cable still wasn't available to them!
