The number of Europeans taking to the seas has hit the 4 million mark according to the European Cruise Council.

Reports claim the EEC had expected a rise in popularity of cruise holidays but not so soon. In fact this new record high comes two years earlier than expected. The UK leads the way with 1.3 million passengers opting for a holiday at sea, with Germany and Italy coming second and third.

It's no surprise that more and more of us are choosing to spend the summer holidays cruising, with plenty of destinations to choose from, such as the Caribbean, Canaries and Mediterranean to the chillier coast of Norway for the more hardened traveller; It gives you the chance to appreciate many new cultures in one vacation. With the options of going ashore and visiting the sights, or sitting back and soaking up the sun on deck with all the amenities in one place, it's sure to be a relaxing way to spend your summer holiday.
