In selling I do realize that you have to close every sale, but how you do it is the key. If you have just completed your presentation and you then have to go into a lot of hard closing, then you are definitely not selling correctly.
Some Objection Handling Techniques:
- Listening: nodding & physically showing interest
- Question: be deliberate to show you are interested
- Think: what methods would work best
- Check: to see if you answered all of their questions
It is simple once you look at these techniques and instead of being a robot, to be aware of where you are at that moment, and you will succeed. Listening, showing interest, if you are having a conversation with a person, you should genuinely be interested in the exchange of words and readily engaging in the conversation. Don't pretend to be interested.
If you were the client and feel as though "this person is just trying to get a sale out of me", then you have already failed. The product should be something that your customer needs; they should be a part of your target market. Question, again brings us back to being present of where you are, and interested in your customer, not just seeing the dollar signs you will then automatically ask questions, and ensure they have all the knowledge they need during this transaction. Thinking, you will know your customer from the conversation, therefore you will know how your customer can benefit from the product or services. Instead of telling the customer, ask them what they want and give it to them. Checking, again being mindful of your customer you will automatically ask questions to ensure they are comfortable.
What you have to learn is stop selling, and start creating the buying environment. That is what I have found to be fool proof way of getting lots of nice profitable customers, and not just a sale.
