Judas Priest Prepares for Nostradamous

Legendary rockers Judas Priest introduce a massive world tour in support of their upcoming June 2008 release "Nostradamus".

Since forming in 1968, Judas
Priest
has acquired a reputation for being the definitive band in the heavy
metal genre. They have released over 15 albums, toured the world on numerous
occasions and influenced generations of rockers with their innovative style.
In 2006, they became the first ever inductees into "VH1 Rock Honors", along
with Kiss, Queen
and Def
Leppard
. In addition, MTV recognized the band as the second most important
one in heavy metal history, following Black
Sabbath
.

The reason behind the success of Judas
Priest
lies in their innovative musical style, which has come to define
the entire heavy metal genre. Firstly, they're credited as the first band to
bring a biker-inspired leather look to metal fashion. They were also one of
the first bands to bring a rougher and faster, twin-guitar-infused sound to
heavy metal, inspiring generations of musicians and acquiring thousands of new
fans in the process.

Since their humble beginnings in 1968 Birmingham, Judas
Priest
have skyrocketed to the top of their genre and gone on to sell over
35 million albums worldwide. Among the band's biggest records, are Unleashed
in the East, British Steel (Breaking the Law, Living After Midnight), Screaming
for Vengeance (You've Got Another Thing Comin') and Turbo. The band was also
featured in various popular video games, including Prey, Guitar Hero, Roadkill
and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

Over the years, Judas
Priest
has gone through more than ten members, including lead singer Tim
Owens. However, despite many trials and tribulations, they have managed to continually
adapt to the rapidly changing heavy metal scene, throughout the 70's, 80's and
90's. By 1985, along with Black
Sabbath
, Judas
Priest
became the only heavy metal rockers to perform at Live Aid. In 1986,
they were subjects of a 15 minute documentary entitled Heavy Metal Parking Lot
and in 2001, Rock Star was released, a major motion picture starring Mark Wahlberg,
inspired by the true story of Judas
Priest
.

2008 marks another big year for Judas
Priest
, as the band prepares to release their latest album Nostradamus,
in June. Nostradamus is a brand new project for the legendary band, as it is
a double vinyl concept album, which combines epic storytelling inspired by 16th
century France, with a more orchestra and opera-inspired metal sound. Upon its
release in June, the album will be accompanied by a massive world tour, with
dates spanning Europe, North America and Asia.
