Food for Thought in Chicago

You can be sure of one thing whenever you decide to go on holiday to America – you will be treated to some of the best restaurants and cafes in the world, serving all kinds of different delights and making your trip a very satisfying one.

One of the best cities to visit is undoubtedly Chicago, as you’ll have your pick of the sights to see and enjoy, as well as stopping off somewhere different each day for a bite to eat to fill you up.

It doesn’t matter where you are or what you are doing, there is a good chance that whatever you fancy having to eat, there will be a venue nearby that will serve exactly what you’re after. Chicago is well known for its heady mix of tastes and styles, so whether you want a real American burger with fries or a stylish meal for two at an upmarket restaurant, you will always find something to match your palate.

Sometimes it’s not just the food that takes your breath away, it’s the location too. A great example of high rise dining in Chicago comes when you pay the Everest restaurant a visit. You’ll soon see why it gets its name – it is forty floors up in the same building that houses the Chicago Stock Exchange. An exquisite French menu which offers cold poached lobster among its many delights will be hard to resist.

There are also plenty of grills dotted around the city, including the Park Grill in Millennium Park and the Wildfire restaurant on West Erie Street, both of which will easily tempt you back for a second visit.

One of the best things about eating out in Chicago is that there are just as many options for those who like plain and simple food cooked and presented with care and attention, as there are for those who will try virtually anything. What’s more, you are never far from a new restaurant or location that has a range of new delights on its menu. Some eateries change their menu quite often, while still retaining the top favourites for everyone to enjoy all year round.

You might also like to consider booking yourself onto a walking tour of the city. Some of these last for a couple of hours and work up an appetite before leaving you free to grab something tasty for lunch once you’ve finished, while others are all day affairs and combine a visit to a restaurant or café halfway through. It is well worth looking them up when you arrive and pre-booking if necessary.

Wherever you choose to stay, many of the hotels in Chicago also have spectacular restaurants to eat in after a day out exploring the city, so you’ll certainly be spoilt for choice whatever time of the year you visit.
