Bourton on the Water is a lovely little village known as the 'Venice of the Cotswolds'. We have the river Windrush running through the village with lots of little bridges! During the summer they hold duck races on the river and it is famous for its annual Bank Holiday weekend watery football match. The Cotswolds have been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village has lots of little shops and unusual museums and attractions for children such as a miniature village, an exotic bird park and a maze. You can have a 'Cotswolds cream tea' at any number of tea shops. There is a leisure centre and also horseriding stables nearby. It is within walking distance of other lovely villages and all walks and hikes are very well signposted.
Bourton on the Water is very well situated for visiting places such as Oxford, Stratford on Avon, Bath and Bristol, all within about an hours drive. The lovely spa town of Cheltenham is about 20 minutes away and has all the amenities one would expect, such as a theatre, cinema, and all the High Street department stores. The nearest rail station is about 20 minutes away and the journey to London takes about 90 minutes.
