Digital Wedding Photography - Helpful Tips

For anyone that is or has been married, the events of the day can be captured in images, forever; probably the greatest benefit of digital wedding photography is how quickly the couple and guests can see the photos. DVD's have made the wedding day come alive but still images always win the day because they capture "a moment in time."

The hardest thing if you are a friend or relation is trying to take photographs of the wedding day that they will be pleased with. With the information here you may find taking photographs with a digital camera at a wedding a little easier.

Unless you know how to compensate or have taken the shot purposely for effect; remember the background is very important. Often the couple is in the thick of a crowd and at this point it may be easier to try and capture just their head and shoulders.

If there is bright sunlight or you are using flash, ask guests who are wearing glasses to remove them just for the shot or as an alternative they could turn their head slightly to the side. If there's a couple or a group that you wish to include in the picture, you should use the zoom function in to get the ideal image but do not shoot against the light so that dark images appear.

Some of the best pictures you will take will be those where the subject(s) do not know the shot is being taken and the best way to do this is by using a zoom lens. As you can't keep asking people to pose for you, always have the camera to hand because digital wedding photography is just as much about having natural, un-posed for shots.

All your efforts will be wasted if you forget to have fresh batteries or carry enough memory for your digital camera to take every image from the day. Professional digital slr cameras start at 6 mega pixels and very few compacts are now below that so your card will need to be a minimum of one gigabyte to be on the safe side.

If you intend to have the pictures blown up to a large size you will need to ensure your cameras resolution is set to maximum. This is achieved by saving the images to your computer where you can print them out at your leisure on special photographic paper.

Photography is an art form that many people try to master, just like painting but how well your digital wedding photography images of the day come out will be down to your passion for photography.
