Rope Hammocks

Rope hammocks are also known as fabric slings and are generally used by people for relaxing, or, at times, for sleeping. Think about those days when the breeze is blowing slightly and the sun is distributing warmth and then picture yourslef relaxing in a rope hammock. Rope hammocks, when stretched between two magnificient trees, will entice you with the promise of comfort.

Rope hammocks can be made from cloth, twine, or synthetic rope and are stretched bewtween to points. These points must be firmly planted and can be trees or possibly a preconstructed wood or metal base. But, whatever the material, a rope hammock is greatly used for backyard relaxation.

A consumers choice of rope hammocks is pretty wide in variety. Besdies the rope hammock chosen for relaxing between two trees, there are other hammock designs. Some rope hammocks are specifically designed for backpackers and include netting to protect against mosquitos. This design sometimes includes pockets that can be utlized for storage. Other rope hammocks are constructed from a thin, lightweight material and meant to be used for daytrips. Consumers can purchase preweaved rope hammocks or they can get creative and weave their own personal hammock. However a rope hammock is attained, it is a perfect way to relax.

Currently rope hammocks are available in a variety of styles. These styles include travel/camping, Brazilian, spreader-bar, and Mayan or Nicaraguan. Each style has a distinction of their own and has its own goos and bad points. Rope hammocks are also available in many patterns, colors, and size ranges. Consumers will choose the style, or styles, that suit their needs.

Spreade-bar rope hammocks are easily recognized because they have wooden or metal bars at each end of the hammock, which spreads the width of the rope hammock and allows for easy access in and out of the hammock. But, those easily accessible, the spreader-bar rope hammock is not known for the same comfort as other styles.

Four of the available styles are similar in form but are constructed differently and have a different type of material. These styles are Mayan, Brazilian, Nicaraguan, and Travel / Camping.

Myan and Nicaraguan rope hammocks are constructed with either nylon or cotton material. The material (known as string) in woven together to form a net used to support the users. The weaving in the Mayan is somehat looser than the weaving in the Nicaraguan and how well the rope hammock supports a user will depend on the weaving quality and the number of material strings used.

The material used for the Brazilian rope hammocks is always cotton. This style has the tendency to be a lot more durable than the other styles and the comfort is less dependant on the quality of the construction and more dependant on the manufacterer. As with any product, the construction quality will vary between manufacturers so comparisons between the makers is justified.

The travel/camping rope hammock, sometimes known as a parachute rope hammock, is popular with hikers and daycampers. This style does not impact the environment in any way and is not heavy to carry in, or on, a backback. The travel/camping rope hammock is constructed of nylon fabrics that are very sturdy and highly dependable. Manufacterers have created this style with, or without, a mosquito net. They are easy to set up and include the special cords needed for hanging.
Whichever style of rope hammock you choose, you will be impressed with the ease of installation or use and the comfort you will enjoy. Let the wind blow in your face while snoozing in a rope hammock.
