While many people trying to set up a successful home business have made some money without the use of a content rich website, it is my opinion that they are leaving a lot of money on the table. Let me explain: Having your own website will establish you in the mind of your customer base as an expert in your niche. As an expert you can then provide real, useable content to your client BEFORE you try to sell them something. By doing so you are establishing a relationship with them that will bring them back to you time and again.
You see, most people surfing the web are looking for information. You know, up to date content that will benefit them. They want to find someone that knows more than they do about the things that interest them. If you will become that expert they are looking for, you can then win them over to your product or services over time
Remember there are hundreds of real estate agents, doctors, lawyers, network marketers, educators, internet marketers, and public speakers out there and they all want to sell you their stuff.(Ever been scammed by someone telling you that you can make $10,000/month with no selling?) More than ever the person looking for information on the net is also wary of "getting sold." The job of your website is to convince the wary consumer that you are different, you are someone who can be trusted, and you are someone that is safe to purchase product from. Not only will they buy the first time, but will come back time and again because they trust you.
If you have your own website that is filled with good, useful content that makes your potential client's life easier, they will quickly see you as THE expert in your chosen field. They will appreciate that you have provided them with useful information at no cost and will, when they are ready to spend money come looking for your advice as to where to spend it. Of course when they ask you will be able to direct them to places and people who you have a partnership with that will create income for you as well as your partner.
There are five things you need to know in order to make your site a success:
1. Make it a niche site - don't try to eat the whole elephant in one bite.
2. Make it a content rich site - don't just fill the site with meaningless words or ads.
3. Make it a user friendly site - getting around the site easily is very important.
4. Choose your affiliate partners wisely - it is hard to make up for someone else's mistakes.
5. Let the content "sell" while you work to inform - your clients will love you and refer you to everyone they know!
So ... having a website is important, but more important than that is having the right kind of website. Content rich, user friendly, and properly monetized.
