In part one of this article, we discussed about how some marriages are forced because of circumstances and what chances are there for their survial. With a full time job and working to support a new family, he found that he had matured way past where she was. He and his friends could carry on fun, intelligent conversations but when he got home, he did not have an equal waiting for him. Instead, he found a giggling young girl who threw temper tantrums when she did not get her way. She had remained the same person that he had enjoyed sex with when he met her in high school. He found more and more excuses to stay away from home, and work overtime, and be with his work buddies more than her.
Perhaps if they had met in high school and became friends before they had sex, things might have turned out differently. When friendship is the foundation of any relationship, especially one of marriage, there are other things to fall back on when times get rough. Friends share experiences, life lessons and even common goals. When there is any kind of problem in a marriage, they still have something concrete to fall back on. They have learned how to share and care with their spouse and look for positive things to keep the marriage alive.
When a marriage falls apart because it was based on pure sex, there is no one to blame. If 2 people would get to know each other before they became intimate, they would have been aware of the things that they didn’t like before they made a baby. They would be strong enough to look over small defects in the person’s personality or even looks. The relationship of marriage needs to start as a relationship between 2 friends.
