Many relationships of love connections begin as friendships and that makes it much more likely to be successful. For instance, if a man marries a woman because she is pregnant, the relationship started as sexual, and there is a good chance the couple really never got to know each other before the “hammer dropped” or the father lined up a shotgun wedding.
There are problems with a relationship that is based on sexual desire. There could be emotions involved that would prohibit the couple from making outside friends. They might think that the other one is too immature to be around their more intelligent friends. Or they might just not like the way the person looks in the light of day and are embarrassed to be seen with the partner.
Marriages that begin with a forced issue of parenthood rarely succeed because there was never a chance to really get to know that person before they began to share their life. I have a very good friend who was forced into marriage because of a child being on the way. He tried to make it work for 7 years and finally got tired of being so different than his wife. During the 7 years after high school, there is a lot of emotional and psychological maturity that happens.
