The word jeans derived from Europe, a type of material used in pants that wore by (Italy) Genoa’s sailors. In 16th century a very popular fabric known serge de Nimes which was the combination of silk and wool in Franc later called denim.

In 18 century the jeans was made from cotton, many laborers used to wear because of very strong material, it was generally made in indigo color which extracted from plants in India and Americas, made dark blue jeans.

Levi Strauss moved to San Francisco with his family from New York in early 1850s because his business to sold dry goods could be increased fast as Gold found in California (near to San Francisco) and gold miners needed cloth which should be very strong and not easily tear.

In 1872 a regular customer of Strauss named Jacob Davis had an idea to use copper rivets to support the pockets and jeans together because of reduce the chance to tear. This idea came in Davis mind because his costumers kept tear cloth. Lack of the money Davis was not able to purchase a patent, so he offered to Strauss which accepted and they started work together.

In 1950s the jeans became very popular because the film and music industry when film stars wore it in movies and in 1970s first time jeans come in flared bell bottom versions. In 1980s the jeans finally became high fashion and designer clothing, and many well known designers made their on jeans with labels and many styles were introduced which amazingly increased the popularity of jeans.

Now days the jeans has become a most popular clothing in the world and every one like to wear it whatever men, women, teens etc and denim used in many fashion items like school dress, handbags, hats or caps, jackets and so on and hundreds of labels have been introduced yet.
