Spring is in the air! It's my favorite time of the year, when I anticipate tulips, lilies, and apple blossoms in bloom. In fact, I love spring SO much, I opt out of spring-cleaning; instead, I choose activities that refresh and invigorate.
How about you? How will you choose to refresh and re-energize this spring? Here's a boost: follow these five tips to re-awaken your work life.
1. Go outdoors - It's amazing how taking a brisk walk in the sunshine refreshes your mind, body, and spirit! Breathe in the smells, sounds, and pictures of life blossoming around you. This will replace any dust bunnies lingering in your mind with fresh ideas about your career and add a bounce in your step.
2. Explore new possibilities - Does your work rejuvenate your heart and mind? If yes, fantastic! If not, how can you refresh your work? Remember, before we can enjoy summer's garden, we need to till the soil and plant seeds. What do you want your career to look like in the near future?
3. Meet the neighbors - In the winter, we tend to hibernate. With spring comes renewed opportunity to nurture connections. It's a good idea to build relationships looking for that next job.
4. De-clutter - Different from spring-cleaning, this is about removing piles of paper and emptying your inbox. Replace clutter with plenty of white space, and perhaps fresh flowers. You can then refocus your eyes (and energy) on what you really want.
5. Refurbish your resume - Think spring! Refresh your resume by documenting recent achievements. Look at it with fresh eyes. What do you wish you could include? Maybe it's time to enroll in that course, conference, or certificate program you've been putting off.
Think about your intentions this spring. It's the perfect time to grow and re-awaken your work life. Get ready to bloom!
