Public Speaking - How To Start A New Career In Public Speaking

If you have always dreamed of making your living as a public speaker, you will want to know more about getting started. Speaking to audiences can be a lucrative career, and you can make your own schedule to accommodate any other work you are doing. Here are some tips on how to get started with public speaking.

• Even though public speaking is one of the highest paid professions in the world, there is still a need for new people to come into the field. Decide what your topic will be and begin making some notes.
• As soon as you have a few talking points written down, start to practice a short speech in front of the mirror. Time yourself and look yourself in the eye when you are speaking to your image in the mirror.
• Contact civic and professional organizations in your community and find out when you can come and speak to them. You may want to visit first so that you will have a better idea of the room setup, the audience make-up, and how long you will be required to speak. Clubs such as Rotary are always in need of fresh, new speakers on almost any topic.
• After you have spoken about five times, look for paid speaking engagements. If you will not be paid very much for these jobs, ask if you can sell materials in the back of the room afterwards. You will also want to get business cards from people in your audience so that you can email them later on.

Learning from a professional speaker will also accelerate your progress as a public speaker. Visit http://www.PublicSpeakingForYourBusiness.com to learn more.
