Of course like many people out there, I had always wanted to find a honest way to make some extra income on the side and had gone on to buy a good number of e-books that had catchy headlines about how one can make money easily and so on. Of all these books however. “Honest Riches” stood out as a well-organised down-to-earth book on the subject of Affiliate Marketing. The book was so well written that I found myself wondering why it took so long for me to try my hands at this venture.
At the end of the day, I decided to explore the area of promoting some Affiliate Programs through pay-per-click search engines. I did this just as a sort of trial to find out if really what I read in the e-book is applicable in real life. The stuff was of course, a simple one to do. It was a matter of choosing a product that has an affiliate program, setting up a pay-per-click campaign for it, putting up some three or so lines of advertisement and adding your affiliate link which one must have previously obtained from the Affiliate Program. As people click through your ad and buy the product, you get paid a previously agreed some of money as commission for your efforts.
I started trying out a few campaigns thereafter and found out that the whole stuff is not as easy as some “make $1,000,000 in a day” will have you believe. I invested a good chunk of my hard-earned money but got virtually nothing to show for the investment. My bank account was in a screaming red!
I was ready to shoot the author of the e-book at sight if only I could set my eyes on her!
Dear Hollymann (that is her name by the way), thank the Almighty God that technology has not gone far enough to allow one to shoot by thought process yet or else you would be dead by now and I would be regretting the fact.
Yes, I would have been regretting the fact because at the end of it all when my frustration had calmed down and I decided to take another look at the e-book’s contents (thank the Almighty God that I did not think of deleting it from my hard drive in those crazy moments), I found out that I did not take time to follow the teachings properly enough to have gone ahead to in vest my hard-earned money.
