The prophecy that his mother taught him.
Proverbs 31:1,10-31
Who can find a virtuous woman?
A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband, Pr. 12:4.
Her price is far above rubies.
For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be
desired are not to be compared to it, Pr. 8:11.
The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he
shall have no need of spoil.
Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to
divide the spoil with the proud, Pr. 16:19.
And those members of the body, which we think to be less
honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our
uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness. For our comely
parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together,
having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked: That
there should be no schism in the body; but that the members
should have the same care one for another, 1 Co. 12:22-25.
She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and
knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth travail, to
gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good
before God, Ec. 2:26.
She seeketh wool,
He giveth snow like wool: he scattereth the hoar frost like
ashes, Ps. 147:16. (Heavenly Sandpaper)
and flax,
The cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt
with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands, Judges 15:1.
(God's Rubber Bands)
and worketh willingly with her hands.
How beautiful are thy feet with shoes, O prince's daughter! the
joints of thy thighs are like jewels, the work of the hands of a
cunning workman, Song 7:1.
She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from
afar.
Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for
your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits
of your righteousness, 2 Co. 9:10.
She riseth also while it is yet night,
With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my
spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments
are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn
righteousness, Is. 26:9
and giveth meat to her household,
... meat which endureth unto everlasting life, Jn. 6:27
and a portion to her maidens.
And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld
not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my
labour: and this was my portion of all my labour, Ec. 2:10.
She considereth a field,
The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the
kingdom, Mt.13:38.
and buyeth it:
The kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the
which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth
and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field, Mt. 13:44.
with the fruit of her hands
Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field: for the pastures of the
wilderness do spring, for the tree beareth her fruit, the fig
tree and the vine do yield their strength, Joel 2:22.
she planteth a vineyard.
For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel, and
the men of Judah his pleasant plant, Is. 5:7.
She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her
arms.
The Lord is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation:
he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's
God, and I will exalt him, Ex. 15:2.
She perceiveth that her merchandise is good:
And her merchandise and her hire shall be holiness to the Lord:
it shall not be treasured nor laid up; for her merchandise shall
be for them that dwell before the Lord, to eat sufficiently, and
for durable clothing, Is. 23:18.
her candle goeth not out by night.
If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part
dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright
shining of a candle doth give thee light, Luke 11:36.
She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the
distaff.
Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by
prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery, 1
Ti. 4:14.
She stretcheth out her hand to the poor;
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of
heaven, Mt. 5:3.
yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
Defend the poor (w/o a spiritual father): do justice to the
afflicted (needy), Ps. 82:3.
She is not afraid of the snow for her household:
As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful
messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of
his masters, Pr. 25:13.
for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
Thy lips like a thread of scarlet (thy speech comely), Song 4:3.

I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved
works, with fine linen of Egypt, Pr. 7:16.
her clothing is silk and purple.
Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in
time to come, Pr. 31:25.
Her husband is known in the gates,
But if any man love God, the same is known of him, 1 Co. 8:3.
when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that
serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as
he that serveth, Luke 22:27.
She maketh fine linen,
Fine linen is the righteousness of saints, Re. 19:8.
and selleth it;
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a
field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy
thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that
field, Mt. 13:44.
and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
For as the girdle cleaveth to the loins of a man, so have I
caused to cleave unto me the whole house of Israel and the whole
house of Judah, saith the Lord; that they might be unto me for a
people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory, Je.
13:11.
Strength and honour are her clothing;
Glory and honour are in his presence; strength and gladness are
in his place, I Ch. 16:27
and she shall rejoice in time to come.
Them that trust in the living God, who giveth us richly all
things to enjoy; That do good, that be rich in good works, ready
to distribute, willing to communicate; Lay up in store for
themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they
may lay hold on eternal life, I Ti. 6:17-19.
She openeth her mouth with wisdom;
Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to
utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon
earth: therefore let thy words be few, Ec. 5:2.
and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I
should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary:
he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as
the learned, Is. 50:4.
She looketh well to the ways of her household,
Who is she that looketh forth as the morning, fair as the moon,
clear as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners? Song
6:10
and eateth not the bread of idleness.
And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying,
We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel: only let us
be called by thy name, to take away our reproach, Is. 4:1.
Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband
also,
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of
heaven.
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness:
for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the
children of God.
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake:
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and
shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake,

and he praiseth her.
Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.

ways, Ps. 128:1.
she shall be praised.
My dove, my undefiled is but one; she is the only one of her
mother, she is the choice one of her that bare her. The
daughters saw her, and blessed her; yea, the queens and the
concubines, and they praised her, Song 6:9.
Give her of the fruit of her hands;
For the seed shall be prosperous; the vine shall give her fruit,
and the ground shall give her increase, and the heavens shall
give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to
possess all these things, Ze. 8:12.
and let her own works praise her in the gates.
Wherefore I perceive that there is nothing better, than that a
man should rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion.
Ec. 3:22
