There is an old saying in marketing, "Dumb marketers do not
test."
Actually, I just made that up :
But it's true.
A simple test could mean the difference between a super
successful campaign and a miserable failure.
In fact, I'll never forget the one test I did back in the
days when I was telemarketing using autodialers (before the
do not call laws came into effect.
I was testing a phone script I was using to call people.
I changed four words in my phone script that quintupled the
amount of leads I was generating. It resulted in thousands
and thousands of dollars in revenue.
I do hope you learned something from this test.
Some Tips for Testing Your Ads Using the Internet
The ability to test your ads using the Internet was not
available until only a few years ago.
Today, you can test headlines, salesletters, print ads and
other marketing creative for very little investment in just
a day or so using the Internet.
Marketing tests that used to take thousands of dollars and a
much longer time, can now be done in one day with a few
hundred dollars on the net.
Here are some tips for testing on the net:
1. The best testing software to use is a multivariable
tester. It is split testing on steroids. What big
companies pay thousands of dollars for, you can buy for only
a few hundred dollars. My recommendation is
www.MultitrackGenerator.com
2. When you drive traffic to the testing pages, only drive
the type of traffic will eventually be looking at your ad or
salesletter.
In this particular test, I chose a lot of keywords for
Google Adwords that had to do with wealth building.
3. When using variations of your ad copy, alter only big
important things such as the headline, the offer, photos
etc.
4. The amount of traffic you send to your test pages need to
be "statistically significant." I'm not a statistician so I
can't specifically say how much traffic you should send, but
I like to see several hundred visits to each page before I'm
comfortable with the results.
