Making Straight A's and Building Esteem for Students

Straight A students are often those students who have been taught how to study effectively. They are taught how to do school work in a way that gets the best result. Too many students are sent to school but are never taught how to study, how courses are set-up and tested, or how to perform well in an academic environment. That's a bit like having the same student join a swim team without ever having swim lessons. It's not enough that the kid was simply around water or watched others swim... the kid needs to be taught how to swim first. After he or she learns the basics of how, then the student can comfortably build on that foundation - getting better and stronger.

Don't let your student or yourself suffer needlessly just because no one ever showed the student or you what to do to make good grades. Once the basics of how to learn are mastered then making top grades becomes achievable. It also takes much less effort.

The education process is just that - it's a process. Courses are structured to be presented and tested in a certain way. This is not some secret that can't be told. It is for many a basic understanding that no one has ever shared. That's a shame. You know that academic performance can affect self-esteem. One of the most important lessons is to learn about ones true abilities and to have the confidence to then build on those abilities in life.

Learning how to learn and how to perform well in school is a lesson too many students have missed. There is no reason to let that lesson remain unlearned. Each student can learn how to learn and how to best perform academically. This should not be made into some pressured or unpleasant thing. Once you learn how to swim you can enjoy a lifetime of swimming. But if you never have the first lesson in how to swim, the water can be a scary and unpleasant thing for a lifetime. There is no need for that. Just like swimming lessons are the place to begin, so too are learning lessons an important part of each students basic training. Too many students never get that basic training. They remain at a disadvantage throughout their academic career. Now some students can do well enough without the basic training, but why not take advantage of learning how to learn? It's a basic lesson. It's not hard. But it can be very hard to go through school without that understanding. School and learning can become a misery and disappointment if the student doesn't understand how the learning system works.

The good news is that every student can get access to the basic training for learning. School can become more a pleasure and less a drudgery when the student understands how it works and how they can best perform within the learning environment. Take a look at the Resource Guide. There you will find how to get the basic skills that make school more fun and learning easier to do. Become the straight A student if you want. Once you have the basic learning skills that becomes a real choice. And most importantly, self esteem is vastly improved when that confidence for performance is instilled.
