Earlier whatever I did, the adsense was completely distinguishable on my websites meaning that the readers of my websites were completely able to distinguish the adsense from the real content. Most people have built what is called "ad blindness" . This is where visitors tend to ignore ads because they know that this color on this site is an ad. Obviously if they are neglecting ads, you are not getting clicks. But now a little change which will solve this problem.
Google now allows "you" to specify your own ad colors which means that if you have "white" color background, your ads can also have "white" color background, completing mixing them with the rest of the site. Your links are red in color, so are the links in the ads! Think of it this way, google adsense is now a part of your written content. I just placed this ad unit on a new site of mine which is not indexed by google yet and I don't know if the ads are showing or not but try to find the ads at

How to customize this ad unit?
Step 1.) Log in to your google adsense account. Click "adsense set up".
Step 2.) Choose the type of ad unit you want to display. Text ads, link units, etc. and click continue.
Step 3.) Choose the size of the ad banner. Keep in mind that you are mixing the ad within the content so the size should fit within your readable area.
Just below that is an option to choose a layout which lists the previous layouts. You can either choose one from these or below that are boxes where you can specify your own colors. They are:
Background for background color,
Title for the color of the link title,
Text for the color of the text displayed,
URL for the color of the URL displayed below the ad.
These accept the 6 digit hexadecimal color coding.
Mixing the ads with the content has been a proven click raiser and with right color combination, the ads are your content and the links, your own site links.
