Purposefulness
To everything there is a meaning and purpose. It is said that when a butterfly flaps its wings in Africa a huge storm is created near Alaska! To the naive eye, random acts may seem pointless, but are they?
We believe that everyone has a purpose, though it may take a few years to fulfil. Some people spend their whole lifetime looking for their purpose, while others live rebuffing their inner voice. Then there are those who live in complete agreement with the wisdom within their soul.
In fact, it is not so much a question of finding your purpose as of slowing down enough to recognise and listen to it. When you are clear about your intention, boundaries and commitment to act, then there your passion is ignited and your purpose begins to come alive. Otherwise, everyday acts seem to lack depth and meaning in one's life. Meditation reminds us how to listen; it allows us to go in and feel our thoughts before we give our purpose the breath of life. As we meditate, this pregnant pause gives birth to meaning.
It is important to bear in mind that just because something doesn't make sense to us, it is not that it doesn't have value or significance. It is very easy to pass judgement, criticise, accuse, condemn, sneer and belittle that which we cannot fathom or comprehend, but we should know deeply that when we do this it reflects our spiritual immaturity. When we stop to observe our thoughts we begin the journey of realization - a realization that fills our every breath with meaning and purpose.
Being purposeful means having a clear focus, as opposed to sitting back and just letting things happen. However when you slow down and start listening to your inner voice, you become aligned with your purpose and start being active in its fulfilment. You add power and motivation to all that you do. Everything, even the slightest deed of drinking a glass of water is filled with full awareness and significance. This is when we truly begin to quench the thirst of the soul.
Om Shanti
