You don't have a job, and you need one like
quick, fast, and in a hurry.
No problem.
Pick up your Yellow Pages.
Yes, we said, your "Yellow Pages."
And, then what we want you to do is start
calling each and every business.
Now, you could use the hang dog negative method
of "You don't have any job openings, do you?"
And, even doing that, you will find somebody
that says, "Yes."
But, if you have a cheerful voice, and ask,
"Yes, I was wondering if you had openings that I
could help you with," you'll get a far better
response.
And, when they say, "Yes," then get down there
quick, fast, and in a hurry. (Just make sure you
are appropriately dressed for an interview.)
We know somebody who got an interview for a job
in forty-five minutes. She had the job within three hours.
By the way, another easy job to get is "maid."
We won't say "maid in a motel." Too many Beavis
and that other guy types out there would make fun
of that line.
That is the exact job that one of our staff
members landed.
Now, if you want to speed up the process, you
can call the convenience stores, hotels, motels,
and restaurants first.
Some of the people that you speak with will be
very derogatory with you when you call. They'll
degrade you for not coming down in person.
Don't sweat it. You're not worried about them.
You're trying to get the job quickly, which is
why you used this method.
Now, if you are trying to network and build a
business, like a multi-level business, then you
want to use this method with your Yellow Pages.
Look at each category.
Who comes to mind when you see that category.
Do you know an architect, or somebody that works
in building buildings? Write their name down.
Do you know an artist? Write the name down.
Don't worry about qualifying them? You can
always do that later. And, besides, you don't
know if they will be interested in your
opportunity. The worst they can do is say, "No."
And, if you get hurt by that two letter word,
then go back to the newspaper and find a new
method of building a business, or use the first
method listed in this chapter and pick up a new
job.
You can do that from Animal store all the way to
Zoo.
You will build quite a list, and that's what the
business is all about anyhow, right. Getting the
names. Because, if your opportunity is right, it
will sell itself, and all you needed was the
names, anyhow.
You got the names now.
