Chain letters are definitely not the way to go! They are a SCAM and should be avoided at all costs.
The idea behind chain letters is that you receive a letter in the mail with some money. Usually it is only a dollar or two. On the letter, there is the explanation of what to do next along with a list of 5 peoples name and addresses. You are to send along a dollar to each one of the people on this list. Supposedly, at some future date, you will be receiving a whole crap load of cash from one of these letters. Good luck with that!
