ADAPT addresses image capture, image processing and manipulation, the reproduction of art-grade prints and the presentation of these artworks. Thanks to technology, a traditional artist can live the words of the famous impressionist Eduoard Manet (1832-1883)
"If I only had an intelligent machine that should be able to reproduce in such a way that the structure and quality could not be distinguished from the original. I would not only be a made man but I would also be rid of the worry of how to make my works easily available to the general public."
The 'intelligent machine(s)' are now here!
Back catalogues of art can be reproduced, limited signed editions can be made and art can find new world markets because quality reproduction is now within the realms of all creative people.
ADAPT also addresses the burgeoning market for collectible photography, as well as the commercial, wedding and portrait sectors - going digital at a rapid rate. Digital Cameras in the five mega-pixel plus range are the starting point, up to highly sophisticated camera backs for studio and pro bodies approaching thirty mega-pixels. Scanners for negatives, positives and hard copy are another image capture method, but must be of the highest quality.
ADAPT also recognises the growth in art that is conceived, created and archived digitally, using the computer as the 'canvas' and graphics tablet as the 'paintbrush.'
Software plays a big part in the digital art world and you can expect to see the very latest offerings from the world's leading image software houses. Websites are playing a vital part in marketing digital artworks and these two will be discussed at ADAPT.
There is so much to know, that's why the organisers are bringing leading speakers to ADAPT 2005 and presenting 'how to' seminars which will explore every avenue of digital art and photography.
The media used for digital art is of critical importance. It's no use printing beautiful images on paper that will degrade quickly, or with dye inks that fade after only a short time on display. ADAPT has all the leading-edge technologies in both acid-free, wood-free printing papers and archival, pigmented inks.
Held in the Byron Kennedy Hall, next to Fox Studios, Sydney, ADAPT is the most exciting, progressive and creative event to hit the digital world -ever!
Artists, Galleries, Photographers, Collectors, Museums, Art schools, Reproduction bureaux, Art dealers, Interior decorators and many more will learn so much about where art and photographic reproduction is headed at ADAPT.
