Making Smart Computer Security Purchases

I’ve recently been on the hunt for a better set of Computer Security tools as the ones I’ve been using for quite some time seem to have run their course and become increasingly useless as the years have passed. Mind you I am the type of person who regularly updates both the software he uses as well as the definitions for those programs however even with such regular updates the programs no longer detect 100% of the threats that I know are in my computer and some of them have severe trouble getting rid of the infections they do find.

I’m borderline paranoid when it comes to my Desktop Security and I think that being a business owner who uses his computer for business as well as recreation helps bring on those types of feelings. The other problem I’ve been having with my current programs is the fact that I have to run more than one to solve and fix my problems. I know that there are several different vendors who offer all inclusive programs and after doing some Security Research I have a short list of those vendors.

As my business needs grow and my children become old enough to begin using the internet the chance of infections and even identity theft grow larger. I have been looking at programs that not only detect and eliminate problems but that also keep things out with strong intrusion prevention tools. Security Management software these days seems to be a lot like my older programs in that the vendors that publish the software exclude options in each application hoping that you’ll fork over more money for additional protection. Its my opinion that these types of programs should be condensed into one all inclusive application that keep our data and files safe as well as keep our computers running at optimal speeds.

As I previously stated my search has yielded a short list of vendors that I am considering. At the top of my list is a program called Blink Personal Edition. It’s currently being offered as a Free Antivirus Software download from its publisher eEye. Of all the vendors on my list none have had such positive reviews as Blink has. I’ve seen the name eEye tossed around quite about on boards and forums all of which where overwhelmingly positive.

I have downloaded Blink and toyed with it a few times but as I’m an extremely busy individual I haven’t yet had the time to take a good hard look at it. I will say this though. It is the most comprehensive piece of Endpoint Security I’ve seen. It detects all infections and identifies a large majority of threats and then keeps them out with a set of superior intrusion prevention options. Unfortunately for me I have yet to sample any other programs due to my time constraints but if any of the others on my list deliver what Blink Personal Edition does then I’m going to have a difficult decision on my hands.

At this point I’m overly pleased with Blink’s thoroughness and ease of use but I have to be fair to myself and take a look at the other four on my list. It’s really going to come down to two things for me. Cost and how secure my next application can keep my business files as I keep personal contact and transaction information on my one computer. I will also be considering how secure the Internet Security options are in each program. I like my kids safe too and a good Desktop Security application can protect both them and the computer.

If you find yourself in need of new PC Security Software for any reason be sure to spend a good deal of time doing research on any vendor you are interested in. You’ll also want to be sure that you don’t allow yourself to be oversold be either websites or a sales associate. There are very good programs for both home and business. Some of these are excellent solutions for both types of users while some are better for one or the other. Be sure that you know the difference before you buy as having the wrong Computer Network Security program can cause you more harm than it can do you good especially when its difficult to operate.
