A reviewer with the nick name markdoe writes in his critical review about the Office Depot staff that “The folks they have running the stores have the poorest customer service skills.” The customer service for online delivery of goods is regarded as even more inefficient and undesirable. A customer nick named as Rags4 criticizes the online delivery customer service in these words: “These people are absolutely useless and incompetent and barely understand their products and anything you are saying and you can barely hear or understand them either.’’
Customers are particularly irritated when the junior staff does not grant them access to their manager with their typical excuses. The online delivery is regarded as extremely unreliable. Quite often, the goods are not delivered on time. Only after continuous reminders by the customers are the items delivered. If the purchased item turns out to be damaged, lengthy and complicated procedures await the customers in order to get the item exchanged or returned.
Certain customers have narrated incidents in their reviews whereby they were delivered faulty ink cartridges which damaged their printers. They were not paid for the service of their printers; neither a total refund was made to them. Often a cartridge is not delivered for months after placing the order. Often, the sold cartridges are smaller than usual in their capacity or are of poor quality. Customers’ reviews say they have never been able to get a replacement for a damaged cartridge easily. Sometimes the replacement itself turns out to be defective. Occurrence of such incidents has force the customers to have loads of complaints.
Many customers have regarded the free gift scheme of Office Depot as a mere fraud. After having made the purchases enough to make one eligible for receiving the gift, the customers are told that their promised gift is unavailable at the moment.
A certain customer has angrily narrated in his review an incident of having bought a shredder from Office Depot, which worked well only for twenty days. When the customer tried to have it repaired, the store staff refused to do so on the pretext that items cannot be repaired by the store if they have been retained by the customer for duration longer than fourteen days. Hence, there are too many complaints against the Office Depot staff, its service and products.
